It takes a lot of heart to take the jewels from a
family heirloom and redesign them into a new, contemporary setting for a
special holiday, anniversary or birthday gift. Or to capture the love between
two people who want a unique wedding ring. Or to transform somebody’s vague idea into a belt
buckle. The heart finds pleasure
in bringing new life to a special object by resizing a ring, replacing a broken
clasp on a necklace, restoring the backing on a pendant or pin, or extending
the life of a fine jewel by refashioning the bezel that holds it in place.
There is a special part of the heart that is
willing to take apart a rusted and broken, and long discarded baby buggy, and
then sand, paint, reshape and restore the metal and material for a customer who
wants to enjoy a long ago part of her life by filling the buggy with antique
dolls. Or to clean and polish sacred metal candelabras and menorahs. Even those
everyday items that we neglect can come back to life with an infusion of tender
loving care, including flatware that met up with the dish disposal, or dented
plates and trays, tarnished door knobs and hinges and tea services.
For over 20 years, I have built a business
around a heartfelt care for my customers who come wanting ideas for a perfect
gift or already with ideas to create or transform some cherished object into a
special item to enjoy or to remember a loved one. Recognizing that not everyone
wants an originally designed or custom made piece, I am constantly looking for
affordable retail items that still look like one of a kind. You can rely on me to steer you to
gifts for a hard to please friend or family member.
While learning skills in silversmithing from the
Cleveland Institute of Art, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, I draw my
inspiration from the Rough Collies in my life: Briton, Lance, Mickey, Joshua, and Thorn Angel. They have taught me what it means to
live from the heart. That’s what I give back to my customers.
